Smokin' Popcorn

Scrummy Snacks

Salty, smokey, buttery and so so addictive!

Growing up, popcorn was an easy treat that was fun to make. We used to cook it in canola oil and sprinkle powdery icing sugar all over it.

Things have changed a bit since the 70's though, and I've come up with a healthy version that possibly tastes even better than it did 40 years ago.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup ORGANIC popping corn

  • 1 tablespoon of cold pressed coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons of organic or grass fed butter
  • ½ teaspoon of unrefined salt

  • 1 teaspoon of Secret Spice Co Smokin’

Directions

  1. Heat a large pot on a moderately high heat on the stove

  2. Pop the coconut oil in to melt
  3. Add 3 popping corn in and wait until they pop

  4. Add the remaining popcorn in a thin layer, lid on and remove from the heat for 30 seconds

  5. Pop it back on the heat. Swish the corn around to get coated with oil then wait for the popping to start...DON'T LIFT THE LID!

  6. Give it a shake every now and then to get the kernels to the bottom but don't take the lid off!

  7. When there is no more popping...you're done!
  8. Tip the popped corn into a large bowl with enough room to toss it about
  9. Blob the butter in the hot pan off the heat
  10. Add your salt and spices and dissolve a little

  11. Pour the butter mixture all over the corn and toss quickly to coat
  12. Repeat the butter process if you didn't get good coverage or it needs MORE!
